Committees and Events

AMPA Committees

AMPA has several boards, committees, and working groups to manage the organization and advance the interests of members.  Most are available for participation by any AMPA member utility.

Board of Directors

AMPA is governed by a board of six Directors that is elected for two-year terms.  The board includes three officer positions that comprise the Executive Committee.  The head of the Board of Directors is the AMPA President, Jake Rice, III, who also serves as the General Manager of Jonesboro City Water & Light. 

Finance, Accounting, and Customer Service Committee

The Finance, Accounting, and Customer Service (FACeS) Committee discusses a variety of administrative topics, including financial management, billing, and other customer interactions.  The chair of the FACeS Committee is DaRae Roberts of Paragould Light Water & Cable. 

Grants Working Groups

After the adoption of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, AMPA created several Grants Working Groups to track funding opportunities for electric, water, wastewater, and broadband services, as well as electric vehicle charging infrastructure.  The Grants Working Groups are chaired by Slade Mitchell of Jonesboro City Water & Light. 

Human Resources Committee

The Human Resources Committee discusses all matters related to employee management, including pay, benefits, and policies.  The Human Resources Committee is chaired by Kevin Lawrence of Jonesboro City Water and Light.

IT / OT / CYBER Committee

The Information Technology (IT), Operations Technology (OT), and Cybersecurity Committee discusses issues related to the security and operation of computer, SCADA, and other automated systems.  The IT/OT Cyber Committee is chaired by Phil Sharps of Clarksville Connected Utilities.

Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee advocates for public power in Arkansas at the state and federal level.  The Legislative Committee supports or opposes legislative proposals based upon their affect on public power and AMPA members.  The Legislative Committee is chaired by Slade Mitchell of Jonesboro City Water & Light.  

Mutual Aid Committee

The Mutual Aid Committee is responsible to periodically review and update the Mutual Aid Agreement that is used to expedite assistance between members during an emergency.  The Mutual Aid Committee is chaired by Greg Dell of Conway Corporation. 

Superintendents Committee

Electric Superintendents in AMPA cities meet to discuss safety and common problems in maintaining an electric distribution system.
